However, this could prove very exciting indeed for the York based company with national coverage, as it ventures into the addressed mail market. Since 1984, PDC has concentrated on the unaddressed ‘blanket delivery’ market of directories, newsletters and fliers, delivering over 500 million over this period.

With the recent award of a Postcomm licence, PDC can now apply its 25 years of distribution experience and offer a ‘final mile’ delivery service to companies who participate in mailing campaigns with fully addressed letters, brochures and packages.

Simon Raine, MD of PDC, commented, “The award of a Postal Licence heralds a new era for PDC and gives us a great opportunity to take advantage of the postal market. Whilst we do not intend to compete with the Royal Mail for individually posted items, there is an opportunity in the bulk mail market to offer a cost effective ‘final mile’ alternative for both public sector organisations and private companies”.

PDC has already made a start in this new area by contacting UK mailing houses and by tendering for the delivery of Council Tax letters to local authority residents.
